Innov-X BTX Benchtop XRD
Features:
The BTX Benchtop X-ray Diffraction/X-ray Fluorescence is, simply put, the first combined XRD/XRF instrument designed with ease of use in mind. From educational settings, to the rigors of a QC application, BTX is well suited. Based on the filed proven reliable design of Terra, our field portable XRD/XRF instrument, BTX features the same level of performance, but without the aspects of a portable instrument. The technology used in the portable rock and mineral analyzer received a prestigious R&D 100 award and was chosen to fly on the Mars Science Laboratory Rover scheduled for launch in 2011. Check out the NASA site for more.
Typically, XRD experiments require a finely ground sample which is then pressed into a pellet. This requirement is formed by the need to ensure sufficient random orientation of the crystals in the sample. BTX introduces a patented new way of addressing this issue. With only 15 mg of sample, BTX convects the sample with its integrated sample vibration chamber. By doing so, BTX is able to present all different orientations of the crystal structure to the instrument optics. This results in a superb XRD pattern, virtually free of problematic preferred orientation effects found using more classic preparation methods.
The BTX is a compact combination XRF/XRD system designed for powder analysis. Now XRD work can really be done in an easy to use, small footprint, low cost configuration. With the BTX patented sample handling system, not only is sample preparation time minimized, but accuracy in peak identification previously only available using large and expensive laboratory based systems can now be achieved.

The GoldXpert is available in two configurations: the standard GoldXpert and the high-performance GoldXpert SDD. The GoldXpert SDD is equipped with an advanced Silicon Drift Detector, enabling better precision and sensitivity for the most critical of applications.
The GoldXpert SDD offers a two-fold improvement in precision and sensitivity over the GoldXpert. For example, for a
20-second long test on an 18 kt gold standard, the GoldXpert will yield an Au precision of ±0.125%, while the GoldXpert SDD will yield an Au precision of ±0.067%. Longer testing times provide better precision. Shorter testing times can be utilized for rough, approximate analysis.
The GoldXpert SDD is recommended for refiners who need the utmost in analytical precision and fast reading times. The standard GoldXpert is suggested for general karating and trading applications.

Olympus BTX Profiler
The BTX Profiler provides combined XRD and XRF analysis in one benchtop system for compositional analysis at the structural and elemental level. It affords economy of operational costs, space, and time with a seamless integration of data and results.
Combined XRD and XRF for Comprehensive Materials Analysis
Mineralogy-Phase Analysis with 2-D-XRD
Elemental Analysis with ED-XRF
Seamless Integration of Data and Results
Economy of Operational Cost, Space and Time
The BTX Profiler carries on the revolutionary XRD technology employed in NASA’s “Curiosity” Rover, part of the successful NASA Mars Science Laboratory program. It combines with the highly acclaimed, award winning Earthbound technology employed in Olympus Analytical XRD and XRF Instruments.
The BTX Profiler provides state of the art performance for both XRD structural (mineralogy/phase) and XRF elemental analysis. This is achieved by approaching each analysis with its own optimized technology, affording the high performance required for excellence in comprehensive compositional materials analysis.
XRD Pattern Analysis
The X-ray source excites material at the atomic level and the CCD detector captures a 2-D image of the diffraction pattern caused by interaction with the material’s crystalline substance (phase). This image is referred to as a Debye or Diffraction Ring where each ring corresponds to a diffraction pattern peak and the brightness of a ring corresponds to the intensity. The CCD Detector enables whole or large portions of the diffraction rings to be measured simultaneously. Data processing software then converts the 2-D image to a plot of intensity vs. energy. It further converts the energy to a 2-? value for a plot comparable to conventional diffractometer data. The XRD pattern identifies a compound much like a fingerprint does.
The BTX Profiler provides combined 2-D-XRD and ED-XRF analysis for full compositional analysis. This nondestructive, high-performance capability is of particular significance for several industrial sectors including energy, geochemistry, pharmaceuticals, catalysts, forensics and education.

The DELTA can be used to identify and quantify lead (Pb), arsenic (As), mercury (Hg), chromium (Cr), and other contaminant metals quickly and accurately. Take it anywhere to get fast results for site characterizations, property evaluations, contamination tracking, hazardous waste screening, remediation monitoring, and regulatory compliance. Requiring little to no sample preparation, the DELTA Environmental Analyzer is the ultimate tool for screening large sites and for analyzing samples such as bagged soil, sediments, cores, fluids, dust wipes, surfaces and filters.
DELTA Environmental Complies with Global Methods
Olympus strives to play an integral role in society by putting our technologies to work to help develop a better future. We do this by taking up the challenge of making the hidden visible. Pollutant metals are usually hidden from view, but with Olympus X-ray fluorescence technology, we make them visible in the global effort to help make the world a cleaner, greener place. Portable XRF measurements are made to help ensure that dangerous levels of toxic metals are not present in the land, water or air where we live, work, play, cultivate food or obtain water.
US EPA 6200
On-Site Screening of Heavy Metals in Soil and Sediments
Method 6200 was first developed in the mid-1990s and is still strong worldwide for in-situ (handheld) and intrusive (portable) XRF methods. It provides basic portable XRF quality assurance methods including calibration verification, determination of instrument precision, accuracy and LODs to create a standard field XRF method. Following the method decreases sampling error by increasing the number and quality of samples tested to improve overall data quality. It suggests XRF testing methods include in-situ soil, bagged soil, and fully prepped soil samples. Method 6200 does recommend confirmation of 5-10% of samples tested by portable XRF with an EPA Lab method. Overall, it recommends XRF as a fast, powerful, cost-effective technology for site characterization with the analytical benefits of more and better field testing to improve site understanding.
EPA TCLP HAZMAT Classification
The Rule of 20 for Cost Savings on 8 TCLP RCRA Metals
The DELTA can be used to follow the "Rule of 20" for cost savings in relation to the TCLP HAZMAT Classification Process. If results are significantly less than the TCLP regulatory limit, or are less than 20 times the TCLP regulatory limit, time-consuming and costly TCLP/Lab testing can be avoided.
US EPA, NIOSH, and OSHA
Residential and Industrial Hygiene Monitoring of Pb
The DELTA Environmental Analyzer complies with EPA, NIOSH, and OSHA XRF methods of monitoring Pb on surfaces, in paint, dust, and flakes, and on industrial airborne particle monitors and filters. These methods help protect the health of families and industrial process workers.
The DELTA Environmental X-ray fluorescence spectrometer is a powerful handheld XRF designed for complete environmental investigations of metal contaminants in soils, sediments, fluids, dust wipes, and filters. This high-power, high-performance, field-ruggedized handheld XRF with hotswappable batteries offers you 24/7 heavy-duty operation anywhere you use it.
